Humanism Today

Religious intolerance has been moderated somewhat by our secular constitution, however today’s humanists, atheists and agnostics are still experiencing discrimination. A majority of Americans state that they would never vote for an atheist and the Boy Scouts still refuse admission to children from non-religious families.

Military and civilian hospitals and hospices refuse to establish humanist secular support for their patients even though they admit that approximately 20% of their patients identify themselves as non-religious. When HUMTC does offer to provide support, health care facilities refuse to inform their patients that support from a secular humanist perspective is available.

Humanists of the Treasure Coast was founded to provide fellow humanists, atheists, agnostics with a supportive community, and is a vehicle for transforming humanist values into action.
